Developers are beginning to argue that everyone
Calibrating your monitor is the first thing. If the resulting shade is not what appears on your monitor, then there is no way you will get the desired result on document. For this you will need a specialist device. Once you have developed the appropriate calibrations, you will then have to deal with your shade profiles. There are actually two approaches on this: the "old-school" CMYK program (this is how printing device usually perform by the way), though some developers are beginning to argue that everyone is better off with the RGB strategy for the highest possible resolution before converting them into the CMYK program afterwards.
